Women and Children Support in Detention Centers

Within this context, the Turkish Red Crescent aims to,

• Develop environments in which physical and social conditions are arranged in the best interests of children who stay with their convicted mothers in Penitentiary Institutions in order to ensure that they are not harmed by the negative life of the institution. This includes developing capacity in the relevant field and supporting the reduction of negative effects on children,
• Help strengthen family links,
• Support the improvement and development activities carried out for convicted children in Penitentiary Institutions in order for them to be able to continue their lives as healthy and productive individuals after their release.

In this direction, with the aim of protecting their psychological and physical health, supporting their psychosocial development and integration into society, and strengthening their family links, different activities are taking place with children and young people in corrections units and with female prisoners with children between 0-6 ages, and their families.
With your Zakat donations, as the Turkish Red Crescent, we provide kiosk calls for 0-6-year-old children who stay with their imprisoned mothers and for children pushed into crime, play areas/pre-schools, development/establishment of career workshops, clothing, hygiene and education support, and provide for special assistance required by disabled prisoners.
